February 2011 Notebook Models Added to Our Notebook Finder

As February 2011 comes to a close it was time to add the freshly baked notebook models to our Notebook Finder database. We expected a large number of new notebook models featuring the 2nd generation of Intel Core processors but due to a manufacturing fault pretty much all the manufacturers pulled back until the fault is resolved by Intel. Still Apple, Dell, Asus, Sony and Samsung did manage to release a few models this month. In total we added 224 notebooks but only 13 of them packed 2nd generation Intel Core Sandy Bridge processors. This brings the total number of notebook models in our database to 2415. Full list of notebooks models added after the break.

HTC Salsa Android Smartphone Announced

HTC Salsa Android Smartphone Announced

If you are looking for a Google Android touchscreen smartphone but don’t like the QWERTY HTC ChaCha then you are in luck as HTC also announced the HTC Salsa that is essentially an HTC Wildfire S with a dedicated Facebook button that enables you to share photos, videos and pretty much anything else your fingers desire faster then any other smartphone currently available. The specifications are pretty much the same as the HTC Wildfire S except for the Facebook button, a front facing camera and a slightly bigger 3.4 inch (320 x 480 px) touchscreen, however there is no integrated GPS with the Salsa so if you need the navigation you will be better of with a Wildfire S.

HTC ChaCha Android Smartphone Announced

HTC ChaCha Android Smartphone Announced

We continue our HTC coverage with a world-first Google Android smartphone with a dedicated Facebook button. As for heavy typing touchscreen-only keyboard isn’t the best option HTC opted for a full QWERTY keyboard for HTC ChaCha. But worry not it still installed a touchscreen to keep your fingers happy. The dedicated Facebook button offers a quick way to share anything with only a touch of the button including photos and videos. The screen is 2.6 inch and sports 480 x 320 resolution which is perfectly adequate for this size, while 600 MHz processor and 512 MB RAM should provide an overall smooth and fast performance. It will run Google Android 2.4 and HTC Sense UI.

HTC Wildfire S Android Smartphone Announced

HTC Wildfire S Android Smartphone Announced

HTC Desire is not the only one getting a revival so is the low end Wildfire – welcome HTC Wildfire S. Compared to its predecessor it’s 5 mm shorter thanks to the omission of the optical trackball and even 13 grams lighter. The resolution of the 3.2 inch screen capacitive touchscreen was bumped up from 240 x 320 pixels to 320 x 480 pixels which brings it in line with HTC Legend and HTC Hero. This move probably means we can say farewell to both of them as they will probably be replaced by the Wildfire S. Other improvements are increased RAM from 384 MB to 512 MB and a faster processor 600 MHz compared to the previous that was running at 528 MHz.

Sony Ericsson Xperia Play Android Smartphone Announced

Sony Ericsson Xperia Play Android Smartphone Announced

It’s a smartphone. It’s a PSP. It’s what we have been waiting for – or at least that’s what Sony is promising us. Even though we work hard at BitDynasty we do like to play video games and we still have yet to see a proper smartphone for playing video games. Thanks to Sony our wait could be finally over. Sony Ericsson Xperia Play is a 4 inch (480 x 854 px) Google Android 2.3 smartphone/portable gaming device. As other Sony Ericsson smartphones it features the Timeline UI layer which we aren’t that crazy about but because it has a proper slide-out gaming controller we would definitely consider buying it. Now all it needs to win us and other gamers over is a strong gaming portfolio that it currently lacks as Sony Ericsson was showing of only a few titles at MWC. Check the videos, photos and full specifications after the break.
