Still waiting for a 17 inch gaming notebook that is actually light enough to carry around? By the looks of it you may not need to wait much longer as Razer that is otherwise known for producing gaming peripherals unveiled their first gaming notebook the Razer Blade. But this isn't just another big and bulky gaming notebook as it is only 23 mm thick - which by the way is 2 mm thinner then a 17 inch Macbook Pro and weighs about 3.2 kilograms. It seems Google wasn't sure whether to call it a netbook or a notebook so they came up with a ChromeBook but in our terms it is a netbook as it packs a dual core Intel Atom processor but due to its 12.1 inch screen this is up for a discussion. What Samsung delivered is a first ChromeBook available for purchase as the first Google CR-48 was for developers only. All in all it looks like a fine piece of a netbook/notebook/ChromeBook with a solid and sleek chassis design.

The last time a Nokia got top marks for a smartphone was probably for the Nokia E72 and E71 QWERTY smartphones. So it is good to see that Nokia will refresh the lineup with a Nokia E6 which is essentially all the we loved about the E71 and E72 plus the capacitive multi-touch screen. The 2.46 inch screen might sound small but with a resolution of 640 x 480 pixels it is an absolute delight to use. Yes, Symbian isn't perfect but since this isn't a full-on large touchscreen smartphone that is not much of an issue. If you are after a great QWERTY smartphone and BlackBerry just doesn't do it for you that the Nokia E6 is definitely the one to watch. We love stats especially when they OS related as they show us what people are using out there. It's hard to believe that Windows XP after 9 years of release is still seating on top of the charts but that is all looking to change in the US with Windows 7 steadily climbing each month while Windows XP and Windows Vista (that FYI has never overtaken XP) are steadily loosing their share. StatCounter projected that by the end of  April Windows 7 will become most used operating system in the US. Check the stats charts after the break. (more...)

Even though the recently announced HTC S series smartphones (Incredible S, Desire S and Wildfire S) are yet to become available everywhere HTC has already showed of its next-gen smartphone the HTC Sensation that will run the next version of HTC Sense 3.0 user interface on top of Google Android 2.3 Gingerbread. Looking at the specifications sheet headlined by a 1.2 GHz dual core processor and a 4.3 inch (540 x 960 px) this will be a one mean smartphone.

Alienware M18x to big and heavy for you but the Alienware M11x R3 not powerful enough? No problem. Alienware got you covered with Alienware M14x. As the name suggest it is a 14 inch gaming notebook and thanks to leaked manuals we were able to get a hold of the specifications for this semi-portable beast. The screen will come in either 1366 x 768 px or 1600 x 900 px which might disappoint some wanting a full HD (1920 x 1080 px) screen but we think that for a 14 inch screen the 1600 x 900 px is perfectly adequate.

After announcing a refresh of their smallest gaming notebook Alienware M11x R3 series Alienware decided to announce a notebook for the big boys that need 'true' gaming hardware in a notebook. Enter the AlienwareM18x notebook. A gamer's dream come true featuring a full HD 18.4 inch screen (1920 x 1080 px), an overclocked 4.0 Ghz Intel Core i7 Extreme (yes 4.0 GHz - not a typo), a selection of highend AMD CrossFireX and nVidia SLI graphics and up to 32 GB DDR3 RAM all packaged in an anodised aluminium chassis.

Last week we posted that Dell is about to refresh its Alienware M11x notebook series with Intel Sandy Bridge processors but there was no word on graphics. Alienware M11x R3 manual popped up on Dell's supports website prior to the launch of the notebook revealing detailed specifications including details about the so important graphics chip. While the previous generation nVidia GeForce GT 335M was completely adequate with scoring about 6,000 points in 3D Mark06 benchmark we welcome the upgrade to the nVidia GeForce GT 540M which is about 30% faster scoring about 8,000 points in 3D Mark 06. A useable Windows 7 is one of our unfulfilled dreams and by the looks of it the French might have made it come true with the launch of Evigroup SmartPaddle tablet. To compensate for Windows 7 lack of finger friendliness the Evigroup created its own user interface that runs on top of Windows 7. They called it 'Scale' and it is more than just a finger friendly 3D interface. It has some built-in applications such as web browser, media player capable of playing 1080p full HD video,  photo manager, word processor, contact manager and file manager.

Alienware M11x was the first 11.6 inch notebook to deliver enough punch for gaming with featuring nVidia GeForce GT 335m graphics and thanks to nVidia Optimus it also offered about 6 hour battery life. It was very well received by the public and media alike with really only one complaint - the processor. Alienware Dell decided to change that with announcement that the third revision (R3) of Alienware M11x will be updated with a selection of Intel Core i5 and i7 Sandy Bridge processors. Again being first to feature latest processors from Intel in such a small notebook.
