In the aftermath for Apple’s launch event last week we are finally seeing first reviews of Microsoft’s new Windows Phone 8. By the looks of Microsoft has finally delivered a worthy mobile operating system with adding much needed support for hardware features such as multi-core processors support, higher resolution screens, SD card support and NFC to compete with iOS and Android. On top of that it brought a few welcome improvements to the user interface, phone syncing, kid’s corner, maps, email, camera, internet browser and more. With the release of Windows 8 just a couple of months away Microsoft unleashed the final Windows 8 code to the PC manufacturers and developers to give them time to prepare their devices and software. It’s no secret that Windows 8 brings a whole new UI to the table that some might be annoyed by as it is too touchscreen focused. We definitely have seen the potential of this new UI when used in tablets but we have yet to see how will it be to use it on daily basis on a desktop with a standard mouse and keyboard setup. OS X Mountain Lion 10.8 finally hit the App Store today at £13.99. Upgrading seems a no-brainer to us especially at such a low cost. Don’t believe us? Apple claims the Mountain Lion brings over 200 new features over its predecessor Lion 10.7. Probably one of the top new features are changes/improvements to Finder and interface, iCloud integration, Notification Center, Dictation and Messages, Reminders and notes, Sharing Sheets, Safari and AirPlay mirroring. Check the full new feature list on Apple’s website and don’t forget to head over to Engadget for an in-depth review.

When nVidia’s chief mentioned that we can expect Tegra 3 quad core tablets to go on sale for less then $200 we couldn’t believe or at least we thought that they will feel cheep but Google proved us wrong. Meet the 7-inch Google Nexus 7, a co-branded tablet with Asus. Suddenly the Amazon Kindle Fire doesn’t look like a bargain of the century anymore as the Nexus 7 pretty much beats it in every way. Faster processor, better quality and higher resolution screen (1280x800px), bigger storage at 8/16 GB and weight. Not to mention the brand new Google Android 4.1 Jelly Bean. Samsung Series 9 (900X3B-A01UK) 13.3 inch Ultrabook Review

The first generation Samsung series 9 notebook was one of the first ultrabooks to hit the market. There were only a couple of issues with it to earn a recommendation over a MacBook Air. The use of glossy plastics on the inside which not only looked a bit cheap but was a finger print magnet as well and the fact that even though it cost £1,300 did not pack a high resolution display. Since then there have been a flood of new ultrabooks hitting the market with Asus Zenbook UX31E claiming the top Windows ultrabook title costing less then £1,000 while packing a high resolution screen. Now Samsung released the second generation Series 9 – the 900X3B notebook. Read on to find out if Samsung 900X3B packs enough punch to become the top dog once more.

With Galaxy Nexus smartphone released into the wild reviews of the new Google Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich started popping up on the web. By far the most in-depth review we have seen was done by our friends over at Engadet.

By the looks of it the Ice Cream Sandwich is the tastiest flavour the Google Android operating system we have seen so far as it brings the Honeycomb UI to the smartphones while adding loads of new features. It still isn’t the most noob friendly OS out there but current Android users will definitely appreciate all the goodies.

Samsung Galaxy Tab 10.1 Limited Edition Video Review

Samsung continues battle with Apple for the top spot. When Apple released the first generation iPad Samsung was the closest of all the rivals with Samsung Galaxy Tab and that Apple has iPad 2 on the market Samsung is again after it with Samsung Galaxy Tab 10.1 and by the looks of things it came even closer to nabbing the top spot this time around. Specifications at glance are 10.1 inch screen (1280 x 800 px), with weighing in at 1.33 lbs is even lighter then the iPad 2 and also a tiny bit thinner at 0.33 inch. Continue reading >
