Google Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich on Asus Transformer Prime

Google Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich on Asus Transformer Prime
Wednesday, 23 November 2011 by Vito Zgonik

We have already seen a healthy helping of both Google Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich on smarpthones and the Asus Transformer Prime tablet but this is the first the we saw Google Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich in action on a tablet and what a tablet it is - a quad core nVidia Tegra 3 processor that nVidia figures is as powerful as a bottom shelf Intel Dual Core mobile processor. A bold claim that might be but looking at a game shown off in the below demo this definitely is a capable platform. Aside from the game we can also have a look into couple of new features of the Google Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich on tablets. First one being the new transition effect when sliding through app list and the second one is the capability to easily group the shortcuts on the homescreen into folders. Yes, we know nothing really new here ;) Still worth checking the below video. (more...)

Nokia Lumia 800 Windows Phone video hands-on

Nokia Lumia 800 Windows Phone video hands-on
Thursday, 27 October 2011 by Vito Zgonik

Nokia and Windows Phone haven't come up in conversions about buying a new smartphone for quite a while but we think that Nokia Lumia 800 (and a large multi-million pound marketing campaign) will change that. For the first time we feel like the Windows Phone 7 finally got a desirable handset and Nokia finally got a decent touchscreen operating system that actually has got a future. Nokia definitely made us a believer this time around. But that's not all Nokia Lumia 800 will be available from £26 per month with no upfront cost on either Orange, Vodafone or Three. If you decide go SIM-free be ready shell out just above £400. You can expect Nokia Lumia 800 to hit the stores sometime in November just in time for Santa to get a hold of a reasonable stock for those who are not iPhone 4S crazy. Until then check the video hands-on by Cnet and official press shots after the break. Come on... you want to... (more...)

Apple finally revealed the new iPhone 4S. It looks pretty much identical to iPhone 4 but it does bring some new features to the table. Starting with a dual core Apple A5 processor which according to Apple should be up to 7 times faster then the previous version. Also the camera got a much needed spec bump with iPhone 4S featuring an 8 megapixel camera that is capable of full HD 1080p video recording.

HTC Sensation XE 4.3 inch Smartphone Hands-on Video
Tuesday, 27 September 2011 by Vito Zgonik

Just when you thought your HTC Sensation was the top dog with that 1.2 GHz dual core processor HTC released the HTC Sensation XE with a processor upgraded to 1.5 GHz. That's not all. It comes with Beats by Dr. Dre headset and a special audio profile to boost the sound depth. This definitely makes it the best smartphone for listening to music. Also after complaints regarding the battery life of its predecessor HTC fitted the XE with a larger battery. As we have come to expect from HTC that Sensation XE comes with Android 2.3.4 and HTC Sense 3.0 on board. If you are after a great entertainment smartphone then we absolutely recommend you to check out the videos after the break. The HTC Sensation XE will be exclusive in the UK to Phones4U starting from 1 October at £36 month while you can expect the SIM-free version to be close to the £500 mark.

It features a 7.7 inch screen with a resolution of 1280 x 800 pixels and runs Google Android 3.2 Honeycomb operating system. The hardware specs haven't been confirmed yet but we are probably looking at a dual core processor and 1 GB RAM. Now let's hope Apple will not try to sue Samsung over this tablet as well. Sony Tablet S 9.4 inch tablet Hands-on Video

Sony Tablet S 9.4 inch tablet Hands-on Video
Tuesday, 13 September 2011 by Vito Zgonik

Sony is probably the last manufacturer to join the tablet industry. Better later - then never we say. Looking at hardware Sony Tablet S isn't really very exciting with 9.4 inch tablet running Google Android Honeycomb 3.1. It's powered by a 1 GHz nVidia Tegra 2 dual core processor and 1 GB RAM. But Sony made sure to create a unique design that looks like a folded magazine which makes it easier to hold while reading. This however adds to the bulk of the tablet which makes it look like a fatty next to the Apple iPad or Samsung Galaxy Tab. but at least Sony won't run into legal problems with Apple such as Samsung.

Dell Streak 10 Pro Hands-on Video
Sunday, 04 September 2011 by Vito Zgonik

After releasing Streak 5 and Streak 7 tablets Dell revealed an even bigger tablet - Dell Streak 10 Pro. As name suggests it is a 10.1 inch tablet that runs Google Android 3.0 Honeycomb. It is a pretty standard Android tablet being powered by a 1 GHz dual core nVidia Tegra 2 processor, 1 GB RAM, 10.1 multi-touch screen (1280 x 800 px), 5 megapixel rear-facing camera and 2 megapixel front-facing camera. It will first go on sale in China with a 16 GB WiFi only version at a ¥2,999 (~£289). Lenovo ThinkPad Tablet Android 3.1 Hands-on Video

Lenovo ThinkPad Tablet Android 3.1 Hands-on Video
Wednesday, 27 July 2011 by Vito Zgonik

After announcing the consumer oriented IdeaPad K1 tablet Lenovo announced another tablet but this time around is aimed at the business users. Internal hardware is pretty much the same as the IdeaPad K1 with a 10.1 inch screen (1280  x 800 px), 1 GHz dual core nVidia Tegra 2 processor, 16/32/64 GB internal storage and 1 GB RAM. Where the ThinkPad Tabled really differentiate itself from the IdeaPad K1 is the optional Keyboard Folio case which sports a ThinkPad class keyboard wrapped in a case. The concept of a dedicated keyboard is very appealing as Asus has shown with Eee Transformer which has been the most popular Honeycomb tablet so far. We'll have to wait and see how will Lenovo's business alternative be received. If all goes as planned we won't have to wait long as the Lenovo ThinkPad Tablet should hit the stores next month with starting price of $499 in the US.  Check the hands-on video by Engadget and official press shots after the break.

Samsung Series 5 Chromebook 12.1 inch Netbook Video Review

Samsung Series 5 Chromebook 12.1 inch Netbook Video Review
Friday, 15 July 2011 by Vito Zgonik

Finally the first netbook running Chrome OS has arrived and guys over at Engadget posted a great video review. There is no doubt that Samsung Series 5 Chromebook is a well built and designed netbook. But under the hood it is just another netbook with a 1.66 GHz Intel Atom N570 dual core processor and 2 GB RAM but does feature a larger 12.1 inch (1280 x 800 px) screen then most nebooks. But what really sets it apart is the new Google Chrome OS where pretty much all your data and software is stored in the cloud. A very advanced idea by Google but we think it might be to advanced for most. Check the video review by Engadget after the break.
