Google Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich Review

Google Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich Review
Friday, 02 December 2011 by Vito Zgonik

With Galaxy Nexus smartphone released into the wild reviews of the new Google Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich started popping up on the web. By far the most in-depth review we have seen was done by our friends over at Engadet.

By the looks of it the Ice Cream Sandwich is the tastiest flavour the Google Android operating system we have seen so far as it brings the Honeycomb UI to the smartphones while adding loads of new features. It still isn't the most noob friendly OS out there but current Android users will definitely appreciate all the goodies.

In case you can't be bothered reading the long review Engadget also created a series of videos showing off the most important stuff. Hit the source link for more info.

Nokia Lumia 800 Windows Phone video hands-on

Nokia Lumia 800 Windows Phone video hands-on
Thursday, 27 October 2011 by Vito Zgonik

Nokia and Windows Phone haven't come up in conversions about buying a new smartphone for quite a while but we think that Nokia Lumia 800 (and a large multi-million pound marketing campaign) will change that. For the first time we feel like the Windows Phone 7 finally got a desirable handset and Nokia finally got a decent touchscreen operating system that actually has got a future. Nokia definitely made us a believer this time around. But that's not all Nokia Lumia 800 will be available from £26 per month with no upfront cost on either Orange, Vodafone or Three. If you decide go SIM-free be ready shell out just above £400. You can expect Nokia Lumia 800 to hit the stores sometime in November just in time for Santa to get a hold of a reasonable stock for those who are not iPhone 4S crazy. Until then check the video hands-on by Cnet and official press shots after the break. Come on... you want to... (more...)

iPhone 4S is a Welcomed Upgrade to Apple Phone Series

iPhone 4S is a Welcomed Upgrade to Apple Phone Series
Wednesday, 19 October 2011 by Vito Zgonik

It is not often you get exactly what you want. Although the iPhone 4S came as a surprise to everyone who was expecting the iPhone 5 it seems like a welcomed surprise. The iPhone 4S has impressed and received a lot of positive media reaction now that the dust has settled. So, what are its strongest features?

Well, iPhone 4S’ biggest leap comes in the processor area and the new dual core A5 chip that comes with it is one that massively increases the speed of the phone. The chip doubles the power of the iPhone 4 and when you add in the new GPU you have 7 times the graphical power of the previous iPhone.

Starting with a dual core Apple A5 processor which according to Apple should be up to 7 times faster then the previous version. Also the camera got a much needed spec bump with iPhone 4S featuring an 8 megapixel camera that is capable of full HD 1080p video recording.

Tuesday, 27 September 2011 by Vito Zgonik

Just when you thought your HTC Sensation was the top dog with that 1.2 GHz dual core processor HTC released the HTC Sensation XE with a processor upgraded to 1.5 GHz. That's not all. It comes with Beats by Dr. Dre headset and a special audio profile to boost the sound depth. This definitely makes it the best smartphone for listening to music. Also after complaints regarding the battery life of its predecessor HTC fitted the XE with a larger battery. As we have come to expect from HTC that Sensation XE comes with Android 2.3.4 and HTC Sense 3.0 on board. If you are after a great entertainment smartphone then we absolutely recommend you to check out the videos after the break. The HTC Sensation XE will be exclusive in the UK to Phones4U starting from 1 October at £36 month while you can expect the SIM-free version to be close to the £500 mark.

BlackBerry Torch 2 Smartphone Video Preview
Tuesday, 12 July 2011 by Vito Zgonik

With loosing out more and more smartphone market share to iPhone and a flood of Android handsets RIM is trying to strike back this time with a refresh of the touchscreen/qwerty slider. BlackBerry Torch 2 might look almost identical to its predecessor but it does offer quite a few improvements such as screen resolution bump to 640 x 480 px, increased RAM size and latest version of BlackBerry OS 7.0 but perhaps the most noteworthy is the processor which now ticks at 1.2 GHz compared to the measly 624MHz of the original Blackberry Torch. Intrigued? Then check the video preview by Engadget after the break.

The long awaited MeeGo smarpthone Nokia N9 was finally announced and by the looks of things it was worth waiting for. It is built around a 3.9 inch touchscreen (854 x 480 px) and packs a 1 GHz processor, 1 GB RAM, 16 GB or 64 GB internal storage, WiFi b/g/n, Bluetooth 2.1, GPS and 8 megapixel camera. All this will be wrapped in an attractive polycarbonate shell measuring 116 x 61 x 12 mm and weighing 135 g. It will be available in black, pink or blue colour option when it launches in Q4 2011. Looking at the operating system itself Nokia finally did a decent job of coming up with a touch friendly OS so it is sad that it decided to cease development of any future MeeGo devices.

Nokia E6 QWERTY Smarthpone Hands-on Video

Nokia E6 QWERTY Smarthpone Hands-on Video
Wednesday, 27 April 2011 by Vito Zgonik

The last time a Nokia got top marks for a smartphone was probably for the Nokia E72 and E71 QWERTY smartphones. So it is good to see that Nokia will refresh the lineup with a Nokia E6 which is essentially all the we loved about the E71 and E72 plus the capacitive multi-touch screen. The 2.46 inch screen might sound small but with a resolution of 640 x 480 pixels it is an absolute delight to use. Yes, Symbian isn't perfect but since this isn't a full-on large touchscreen smartphone that is not much of an issue. If you are after a great QWERTY smartphone and BlackBerry just doesn't do it for you that the Nokia E6 is definitely the one to watch. Check the video, photos and full specifications after the break.
