Welcome to the June 2012 edition of our Top 10 Most Popular Notebooks chart. This month we see HP being kept off the top stop for second month in a row for the first time in the history of our chart. Regardless the HP is still dominating the chart with no less than 5 entries, while Toshiba and Asus got 2 each and the remaining one spot went to Sony. Check the full chart after the break.
Apple joined the Intel Ivy Bridge party with releasing updated MacBooks today. Starting of with MacBook Air. Both 11 and 13 inch models have been updated with the latest Intel Core i5 and i7 processors. The new faster processors bring along faster integrated graphics as well in the form of Intel HD Graphics 4000. Other changes over last year’s models are up to 8GB of RAM and up to 512 GB SSD storage while rhe two USB ports have been updated to 3.0. Head past the break for more details and photos.
Welcome to the May 2012 edition of our Top 10 Most Popular Notebooks chart. It’s been one of those rare months where HP didn’t get the top spot. The honours go to Asus X54C this time around. HP still managed to grab 5 spots while Toshiba got 2 and Packard Bell and Dell grabbed one each. Check the full chart after the break.
This month we finally saw more Ivy Bridge notebooks slowly started showing up. We actually were surprised that there weren’t many more. Perhaps June will be the month when the flood gate of Ivy Bridge notebooks will open fully. Along the EliteBook Folio 9470m HP also announced a new addition to the Envy Spectre ultrabooks series with the 13.3 inch XT ultrabook. The HP Envy Spectre XT will not share the glass chassis design with it’s bigger brother but rather follow the other ultrabooks with an aluminium body. Unlike the EliteBook Folio 9470m we do have pricing and availability details for the UK. It should hit the stores end of June starting at £899. Not so long ago HP unveiled its first ultrabook the HP Folio 13 which was more targeted at the consumer market. Coinciding with the Intel Ivy Bridge platform HP release an ultrabook aimed specifically at the business segment with HP EliteBook Folio 9470m. It’s slighltly larger the Folio 13 as it’s packing a 14 inch screen which made space for an exra set of keys on the right side where HP decided to stick in the ‘home’, ‘page up’, ‘page down’ and ‘end’ keys while also expanding the ‘left arrow’ and ‘right arrow’ keys. HP Pavilion dv6-6100 (dv6-6156ea) stayed on top of the chart for second month in a row but HP’s number of entries dropped to only 3 with Toshiba grabbing 3 spots as well, while Sony, Lenovo, Packard Bell and Asus got one each. As more and more manufacturers are releasing ultrabooks we decided this month to add a new category specifically for ultrabooks. Previously we added all ultrabooks into the premium notebooks category. We now have 18 ultrabooks in our database for you to choose from and will keep adding them as they are released.
